Our offer to researchers

If you are a researcher having funding from the WACQT programme, you can join WACQT-IP. This is done by you buying shares in WACQT Researchers AB, who owns the majority of WACQT-IP (70%). You will have to sign an Option and Transfer Agreement with WACQT-IP AB.

If you become a member of WACQT-IP you will gain the following

  • We will pay for all patent and commercialisation costs for an IP
  • You will gain royalty for any IP sold or licensed
  • You will have the opportunity to play the major role in a spin-off established on your IP (but then royalty is gone)
  • You will gain value in the shares if we manage to increase value of the company

If you are on a short-term position (e.g. Postdoc or PhD), the agreement ends when you leave, but you can still keep your shares and of course keep on gaining royalty for commercial business made on your IP.

What you lose is your teacher’s exemption for a period of five years, or as long as you are working on WACQT funding.

Becoming a new shareholder

The process of becoming a new shareholder is described in the document below.

Why should you become a shareholder? Read more below.

Templates - keeping track of your assets

The focus of our work is to find assets in your portfolios and help protect and commercialise these. It is therefore important to keep track of what you produce and check the potential for a follow-up from our side. Let us know if you need contact to discuss this. We have made very simple templates,

  • one for intellectual asset inventories for you to fill out for future discussions,
  • one for invention disclosure when we have a potential patent to pursue, and
  • a simple guide for publication check in relation to asset inventories.
