Like digital technology revolutionized our society quantum technology offers the possibility to develop sensors, computers and communication systems that are exponentially more powerful than current systems. This will change companies, entire industries and the world by solving problems and create solutions that seem impossible today. The time to understand and grasp the potential for technical applications is now. WACQT-IP is established to assist early-stage commercialisation actions from the research programme WACQT.
WACQT-IP AB shall protect early technology steps in quantum technology via patenting by • building up a patent portfolio in quantum technology • commercialisation via spin-off companies • licensing and divestments
We are a company established by researcher’s interest in utilising the intellectual assets created by the research programmes, and with capital from Chalmers Holding AB and Navigare Ventures AB.
Quantum technologies are a set of emerging technologies that use the principles of quantum mechanics to perform tasks that are impossible or impractical with today. Quantum technologies will offer major breakthroughs in areas as heavy and complex computations and simulations, secure communication, new imaging and sensing technologies.
According to McKinsey & Company (2022) investors also see these possibilities: Funding of start-ups focused on quantum technologies more than doubled to $1.4 billion in 2021 from 2020. Quantum computing now has the potential to capture nearly $700 billion in value as early as 2035, with that market estimated to exceed $90 billion annually by 2040. By capturing only a fraction of these commercial possibilities, we hope to strengthen the possibilities for a new business opportunities in Sweden that will help create values for the society.

Navigare Ventures AB
Navigare Ventures is an early-stage investor specialized in science-driven companies. Through investments, they strengthen the industrial and societal impact of research, as well as the long-term financial capacity of our owners.
Chalmers University of Technology is a foundation university with the board of Stiftelsen Chalmers University of Technology (Chalmers Foundation) as the highest decision-making body. Under the Chalmers foundation are the subsidiaries Chalmers tekniska högskola AB (Chalmers) and Chalmers Holding AB.
WACQT Researchers AB is the company to which interested researchers from the WACQT research programme link through buying shares in the company. In addition to having shares in WACQT Researchers AB, they sign option and transfer agreement with WACQT-IP AB.
Quantum mechanics is a fundamental theory in physics that provides a description of the physical properties of nature at the scale of atoms and subatomic particles. It is the foundation of all quantum physics including quantum chemistry, quantum field theory, quantum technology, and quantum information science.
Quantum technology is a class of technology that works by using the principles of quantum mechanics, including quantum entanglement and quantum superposition.
